What are the benefits of using an agency?
sectors, salary scales, and are familiar with the national and international labour market. They may offer you the opportunity to gain relevant skills and work experience on a temporary basis and introduce you to potential contacts which in turn might lead to a permanent position, or help you to move closer to your longer-term objectives.
Though the services of a recruitment agency, you can save the time of submitting many C.V.s to different places, and rely on the agency to forward your C.V. to prospective employers on your behalf. PSI offers the added benefit of allowing you to input your C.V. details once through its website, with the possibility of updating it periodically. You can also inform PSI electronically of your interest in any vacancy that may arise – again saving you time and energy.
What information do I need to give the agency?
It is important to be clear about what type of work you are looking for; to supply the agency with the skills, experience and qualifications you can offer, and to cite any geographical preferences you may have, should you not have your own transport. Your availability is another useful detail for the agency, especially for temporary work. You might also want to discuss minimum salary requirements. An experienced consultant should be able to advise you whether your expectations are realistic or not. You should also inform the agency if there are any organisations that you do not wish them to contact on your behalf.
What will happen to my application?
Once your C.V. has been matched to a vacancy, PSL will invite you to a preliminary interview. PSL will then delete your personal details and any other information that might reveal your identity, before sending your C.V. to the prospective employer. Should you be short-listed by the employer, PSI will inform you who the employer is, and with your consent, inform the employer of your identity. You will then be interviewed by the employer, and should your candidature be favoured, you may be invited for a second interview in which an offer of employment may be made to you. PSL will be in communication with you throughout the selection process up to the moment when an offer of employment is made, and will keep you updated with the status of your candidature whether or not you are selected for the vacancy.
How will I be short-listed?
Typically, the recruitment consultant from PSL will assess your application against a job description and the person specification requirements provided by the prospective employer. PSL will then supply the employer with a shortlist of candidates who are judged to be suitable for the job. On the basis of this information, the employer will decide who of the candidates will be interviewed.
If I am offered a job, do I have to accept it?
No. It is your decision whether or not to accept the position.
What will happen to my registration details when I decide to stop looking for a job?
PSL’s policy is to keep all CVs in our database for a period of six months. Should you wish to withdraw your details from our database at any time, you are to inform us by sending us notification in writing through the website. In any event, PSI will contact you at the end of the six month period in order to ask if you still wish us to keep your CV in our database.
